The Vltava Trail is a part of the Vltava River, which starts in České Budějovice, goes through Hluboká nad Vltavou, Purkarec, Týn nad Vltavou and around Kořensko it turns off along the Lužnice River in Koloděje nad Lužnící, where Mitrowicz Castle is located.
On the Vltava Trail you can enjoy the upper part of the Vltava River, which is located above the Jirásek weir in České Budějovice and further over the confluence with the Mále and the stretch of this river.
In Hluboká nad Vtavou you will also have fun at Munický Pond, which is also included in the Vltava Trail.
The trail around the left bank of the Vltava River from České Budějovice through České Vrbné to Hluboká and further to Purkarec is one of the most popular in South Bohemia.
The ten-kilometer trail with a quality asphalt surface starts in the center of České Budějovice near the swimming stadium and ends under the castle Hluboká nad Vltavou. It is followed by a brand new cycle path through the ruins of the castle Karlův hrádek to Purkarce. From Purkarce is an attractive option to return by boat. The trail on the left bank is also suitable for families with children and in-line skaters, because it is without cant. The sections line the bank of the Vltava River, partly along the trail between the ponds and the alley.
Leisure is a rare thing nowadays, so let's enjoy it on the Vltava River trail, in the adjacent info points and in the beautiful surroundings. There are ideally situated conditions along the trail with strategically placed info points. Here you can refresh yourself and relax or get information. Sports equipment (bicycles, bikes, in-line skates or nordic walking poles), a family motorboat and even a boat with a captain can be rented at the info points. The Infopoints are also stops of regular boat transport České Budějovice - České Vrbné - Hluboká and the boat continues to Purkarec.
There is also a trail on the right bank for all cyclists. It is designed exclusively for cyclists - it leads along a paved road. This leaves more space for skaters on the left bank with an asphalt surface.
After the opening of the lock chamber in Hněvkovice on May 20, 2017, the Vltava waterway was connected to the north and small vessels will reach the Vltava and Týn nad Vltavou, the magical castle of Mitrowicz on the Lužnice river, the Orlík dam and can continue to Prague. The dream of cruise lovers becomes a reality.
